A Peridexion tree. Between 1250 - 1260. Unknown illuminator. Pen-and-ink drawings tinted with body color and translucent washes on parchment. Shown with pigeons and a dragon eating a pigeon. The mythical tree was said to protect the pigeons from the dragon while also providing food. Another instance of a tree as allegory, the tree of life, tree of protection from evil and the fruit as Spirit of Truth.
