RCA Victor Special Model K, Portable Electric Phonograph. ca. 1935. Designed by John Vassos, American, born Romania, 1898-1985. Manufactured by RCA (Radio Corporation of America). Made of Aluminum, various metals, plastic, felt, leather. Charles Martin Hall had discovered a process to make the manufacture of lightweight aluminum possible in 1886, but it took forty years before it would become more than a laboratory curiosity.
